Shell-and-tube heat exchanger
Shell-and-tube heat exchangers are primarily used in various acid-production processes, including sulfuric acid production from ore, sulfur-based sulfuric acid production, smelting-flue-gas-based sulfuric acid production, gypsum-based sulfuric acid production, hydrogen-sulfide-acidic-gas-based sulfuric acid production, waste-sulfuric-acid regeneration, and steel-plant-off-gas-based sulfuric acid production, for heat exchange of conversion gases and for preheating air.
Currently, our company’s shell-and-tube heat exchangers cover sulfuric acid production capacities ranging from 5 to 800 kt/a, with a diversified range of design configurations to meet the varied requirements of different operating conditions. Based on the type of heat transfer tubes, shell-and-tube heat exchangers are mainly available in two forms: plain tubes and finned tubes. According to the gas baffle arrangement in the shell side, designs include disc-and-ring baffles, single-segment baffles, double-segment baffles, as well as longitudinal flow-through heat exchange tubes equipped with turbulators. In addition, depending on the scale of the sulfuric acid plant, the shell-side gas flow paths can be configured as single-pass, double-pass, or multi-pass arrangements. Furthermore, different materials are selected to suit the specific service media.
