Construction Begins on the World’s Largest Demonstration Project for Green Conversion of Carbon Dioxide

On March 30, 2026, the Ningxia 100,000-ton-per-year carbon dioxide chemical-looping mineralization industrial demonstration project—under EPC general contracting by Sinopec Nanjing Engineering—officially broke ground.

On March 30, 2026, the Ningxia 100,000-ton-per-year carbon dioxide chemical-looping mineralization industrial demonstration project—under EPC general contracting by Sinopec Nanjing Engineering—officially broke ground. The project was publicly announced on April 2 and has been included in the National Development and Reform Commission’s first batch of demonstration projects for cutting-edge green and low-carbon technologies. The project will construct a new 100,000-ton-per-year CO₂ chemical-looping mineralization production facility, along with a complete set of supporting utility, storage, and transportation infrastructure, utilizing proprietary technology jointly developed by Sinopec and Yuanchu Technology. With a CO₂ capture rate exceeding 90%, the process enables permanent carbon sequestration, thereby addressing the industry’s longstanding challenges of poor economic viability and difficulty in large-scale deployment associated with conventional mineralization technologies. Upon completion, the project will annually capture and utilize 100,000 tons of flue-gas CO₂ and consume 260,000 tons of solid waste—calcium carbide slag—making it the world’s largest demonstration project for the green valorization of CO₂ and delivering significant environmental and economic benefits. Prior to construction, Nanjing Engineering and Ningxia Energy & Chemical have coordinated all aspects of the project—from design and procurement to construction—optimizing processes, securing critical materials, and implementing rigorous safety and quality controls, with the aim of establishing a benchmark project in the industry and serving as an important practical step for Sinopec in advancing the circular economy and supporting the “dual carbon” strategy.

Total Investment of RMB 6 Billion! Construction Begins on a 500,000-Ton-Per-Year High-End Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Project

On March 27, 2026, Inner Mongolia Fulin Shidai New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fulin Precision Industry, commenced construction on its 500,000-ton-per-year high-end lithium iron phosphate project for energy storage immediately after acquiring the land. Located in the Zero-Carbon Industrial Park of the Mongolian-Soviet Economic Development Zone in Ordos, the project represents a total investment of RMB 6 billion and spans over 567 mu. It will include production facilities such as grinding and kiln systems, along with intelligent supporting infrastructure, with a primary focus on developing new high-voltage, high-density lithium iron phosphate products. The project will be implemented in two phases, each featuring a 250,000-ton production line. Upon commissioning, the project is expected to generate an annual output value of RMB 17.5 billion and annual profits and taxes exceeding RMB 100 million, while creating more than 600 jobs and helping to extend and strengthen the regional lithium-ion battery industry chain. Fulin Shidai was established in January this year and, following a capital increase completed in March, now has a registered capital of RMB 1.005 billion, with Jiangxi Shenghua holding a 77.6119% stake and serving as the controlling shareholder. The commencement of this project aligns with the growing demand in the new-energy vehicle and energy-storage markets for high-performance lithium iron phosphate batteries, accelerates the deployment of high-end production capacity, further enhances the company’s footprint in the lithium-ion battery cathode-material sector, and supports the upgrading of the regional new-energy industry.
